Dear brother,
You’ve asked us here at Walk Worthy about the recent troubling developments by Christian ministries regarding the American Presidential race.
Unless a person’s been hiding in some remote Afghanistan cave without any input from the ubiquitous digital media, we’ve been bombarded during a late American voting season by Billy Graham’s full page ads to “vote Biblical values.”
Very perplexing…to say the least.
Let’s do something ‘Biblical,’ shall we? And be like the more ‘noble minded’ Bereans in Acts 17.10-12 by putting Billy and his son Franklin (who certainly paid for the ads) to the test.
First off, to authenticate the truthfulness of Billy’s ministry here at the very end of his life, let’s take a look at what clandestine secret event they pulled off right after he endorsed a Mormon for American President.
What’s that, you say?
Are you sitting down with your seat belt securely fastened, all tray tables put back into and locked in their full and upright position, with your cell phone turned off?
Well…the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) web site, where is says “Always Good News,” completely removed their previous years-long mention that Mormonism is a full fledged cult.
I kid you not. I do hope you sat down first.
How convenient…say it ain’t so, Billy.
Please excuse me, but that is not “good news” to those of us who faithfully pray for and evangelize the hell-bound lost Mormon.
In the parlance of journalism, etc. the term of what BGEA did is call “scrubbed.” Like made perfectly clean. Removed. Deleted. Finished. Done. Final.
Don’t believe Billy and crew really did that, they who want you to “vote Biblical values?”
Here’s the site info from a web retrieval service before the date of the now infamous “scrub:”
What is a cult?
A cult is any group which teaches doctrines or beliefs that deviate from the biblical message of the Christian faith. It is very important that we recognize cults and avoid any involvement with them. Cults often teach some Christian truth mixed with error, which may be difficult to detect.
There are some features common to most cults:
- They do not adhere solely to the sixty-six books of the Bible as the inspired Word of God. They add their “special revelations” to the Bible and view them as equally authoritative.
- They do not accept that our relationship to Jesus Christ is a reality “by grace through faith” alone, but promote instead a salvation by works.
- They do not give Jesus Christ, the divine Son of God, full recognition as the second Person of the Trinity, composed of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
Some of these groups are Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, the Unification Church, Unitarians, Spiritists, Scientologists, and others.
Ok – then I did a search on their site for the last sentence right above here that included the word “Mormons.”
Search Billy Graham:
No matches were found for your search criteria. Please try again.
I did try again – 3 times…same result.
Isn’t honesty, vs. lying, a “Biblical value?”
I guess it’s a good thing Billy and Franklin aren’t running for CEO and President of the BGEA. ‘Cause we’d have to vote all the “Biblical values, right?
Of course Mormons are members of a cult. Every decent truthful Christian ministry who specializes in defending the faith, apologetics, agrees on this accurate terminology.
Billy said the following about the Bible, “I am not a literalist in the sense that every single jot and tittle is from the Lord. This is a difference in my thinking through the years.”
What says the eternal Word?
Revelation 21:27 …and nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
Revelation 22:14-15 Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city. Outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters, and lying.
What is Billy’s gospel these days, the gospel of the most famous Christian ever?
“When asked whether he believes heaven will be closed to good Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, or secular people, though, Graham says: ‘Those are decisions only the Lord will make. It would be foolish for me to speculate on who will be there and who won’t…I don’t want to speculate about all that. I believe the love of God is absolute. He said He gave His son for the whole world, and I think He loves everybody regardless of what label they have.’”
This is from a leader’s newsletter in 2006:
After a recent speaking engagement, a man walked up to me and we chatted for a while. He used to work for Mr. Graham’s ministry for 8 years. I told him that I thought Billy is getting older and that he might just be messing up in some of his comments. The guy told me he disagreed. He told me he thinks Billy just doesn’t want to offend anyone. That was a sad statement to hear from someone that worked for the man’s ministry.
The gospel is offensive. Truth offends. Period. I called Billy’s ministry a second time, and a guy told me that Billy has made friends with many people of different faiths and didn’t want to burn those bridges.
Billy and Franklin, unfortunately, have succumbed and sunk to the worldly level of loving murderous patriotism more than they love God’s Kingdom and the precious Word of the true Gospel.
But it’s not only BGEA…it’s the other leadership in many cases – the leadership of compromise:
“My experience is that LDS folks—leaders and grass-roots alike—love Billy Graham. For the BGEA to use the term ‘cult’ in describing folks who are open to hearing Billy’s message is needlessly setting up a barrier. Friendly discussions together about what it means to be a sinner saved by grace is a wonderful place to start. The BGEA has implicitly encouraged those important dialogues by setting aside a word that is designed to shut down serious, friendly explorations of the meaning of the gospel.” Rich Mouw, president, Fuller Theological Seminary
Later on this post appeared, as shocking as the initial revelation of deceit…
I think I am just as shocked as Franklin Graham. So to be clear, it is OK for him to call Jehovah’s Witnesses, the Unification Church, Unitarians, Spiritists, and Scientologists cult members, but Mormons? Nope. Either they are just a different flavor of orthodox Christianity, or they are somehow more deserving to be “won over to Christ” than the other cult members. Or does it depend on whom runs for the office of President of the United States? Here is how The Christian Post is reporting this latest shocker:
A month after the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association removed an article describing Mormonism as a “cult” from its website, ministry head Franklin Graham clarified on Wednesday that he was unaware of the article’s existence.
The evangelist told CNN that he did not write the article and that he was “shocked” to find the article on the BGEA website.
“We have 10,000 pages and I don’t write the 10,000 pages. Other people have written it. There was a discussion as to what a cult was and they (the article) had a definition of a cult and then they gave some examples and when I found out there were examples they took them off. But I was shocked that we even had that on there,” Graham said, as he described the “cult” reference as name-calling.
“If I want to win a person to Christ, how can I call that person a name? That’s what shocked me, that we were calling people names.”
The article was categorized under BGEA’s “Looking for Answers” section where the question “What is a cult?” was posed. It defined a cult as “any group which teaches doctrines or beliefs that deviate from the biblical message of the Christian faith. It is very important that we recognize cults and avoid any involvement with them. Cults often teach some Christian truth mixed with error, which may be difficult to detect.”
Providing examples of “cults,” it listed Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, the Unification Church, Unitarians, Spiritists, and Scientologists.
The article was taken down in October shortly after Billy Graham, 94, met with Mitt Romney, a Mormon, at his home in Montreat, N.C. Graham was impressed by Romney’s “strong moral convictions” and said he would do all he can to help the Republican presidential candidate. Romney lost the election to President Barack Obama last week.
The beloved evangelist drew some criticism for his seemingly increased involvement in politics this year. Along with calling on Christians to vote biblical values in the Nov. 6 election, he also supported the North Carolina amendment protecting marriage as between a man and a woman.
But Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham, told CNN that his father has always been involved in politics and has known every president since Harry Truman. On why he threw his support behind a marriage amendment, the younger Graham said his father “never dreamed that in his 94 years of life that we would be discussing the definition of marriage.
“He just never dreamed that,” he said. “So there was an amendment to give clear, biblical definition to the word ‘marriage’ and my father supported that.”
Even with the election now over, Franklin Graham stated that the “cult” article will never be posted again.
While acknowledging the “huge” differences between Protestants and Mormons, he indicated that his priority is winning people to Christ and throwing around the “cult” term does not help that.
“I believe that the only way that I can get to heaven is through faith in God’s son, Jesus Christ, who took my sins, who died on the cross and who God raised to life and if we’re willing to confess our sins and repent and believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, God will forgive us and He’ll heal our hearts. This is my message. I’m an evangelist and I want to reach as many people as I can,” he stressed.
“If I’m calling them names, it doesn’t work.”
(This article is found here: Franklin Graham “shocked” his site called Mormonism a cult)
Shame on them…they know better. Or should, for the Lord’s sake. The Word of God names people and calls people names all the time. Why? To shock us who were self-righteous out of out satanic induced stupor of “niceness.” The Bible calls people fools, devils, hypocrites, just to name a very few.
The King of Kings often proclaimed to His unsaved friends…Repent…or perish.
In the book of James we still see the Zealots murdering the Romans and trying to bring their false kingdom into existence with violence…
James 3:1-2 Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment.
Romans 1:18-19 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness…
But..what are the Biblical values the Graham’s want you to vote?
Below the belt sexual stuff only. Abortion, homosexuality, gay marriage. That’s it, brethren, as far as we can tell – that’s the extent of their political gospel. And if you think you’ve “won” any of these by voting, think again.
You’ve lost all three. Every one. Poli-tricks is never the way.
The other commands of Christ are rejected…ignored…forgotten in any Graham push.
You see the real Christian bumper sticker above? Take up your death cross, love your enemy, sell your possessions…to name just a few inflammatory commands.
You can’t vote a few “Biblical values” and ignore everything else! We’re commanded to obey all the commands. You can’t vote for a pagan who is commanded to swear an allegiance to a pagan nation that kills their enemies and wants to rule the world.
Wake up, Christian. You’ve been seduced. You’re asleep.
You tell me you’re going to vote, then, for the “lesser of two evils.”
Do you hear what you just said?
Evil.
I used to say the same thing.
1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form (appearance) of evil.
Revelation 2:2 I know your deeds and your toil and perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate evil men, and you put to the test those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and you found them to be false…
1 Peter 3:10-12 For, “THE ONE WHO DESIRES LIFE, TO LOVE AND SEE GOOD DAYS, MUST KEEP HIS TONGUE FROM EVIL AND HIS LIPS FROM SPEAKING DECEIT. HE MUST TURN AWAY FROM EVIL AND DO GOOD; HE MUST SEEK PEACE AND PURSUE IT. “FOR THE EYES OF THE LORD ARE TOWARD THE RIGHTEOUS, AND HIS EARS ATTEND TO THEIR PRAYER, BUT THE FACE OF THE LORD IS AGAINST THOSE WHO DO EVIL.”
Choosing the lesser of two evils is a false dilemma, a false choice. You have another choice.
You don’t have to vote for any evil. And disobey God by supporting war mongering Commander-in-Chief’s posing as real followers of Christ. That’s why Paul wrote Romans 12-13 to absolve us of the fear and requirement of militant civil involvement.
It’s such a freedom when you leave the kingdom of the world – for the true kingdom of God!
The last American Presidential election I voted in was 1988. I mistakenly voted for George HW Bush Senior, the promoter of the New World Order and all sorts of evil. (Watch his televised videos of promoting the New World Order here: www.walkworthty.org/usa )
His father, Prescott Bush, was the money man appointed by the Dulles’ brothers for American fascist businessmen, like the Rockefellers, who funded Hitler and the gas chambers. It’s a matter of public record. Watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8AdSHKywEU
And Reagan, shown here with astrologer Jeanne Dixon, may have been the biggest con to Christians.
In 1988 White House spokesperson Marlin Fitzwater acknowledged that Ronald and Nancy were devoted to astrology by way of Joan Quigley (CLICK HERE TO WATCH VIDEO). Rumors had circulated about this since Reagan had insisted on being inaugurated as Governor of California at 12:10 a.m. in order to have a more auspicious alignment of the heavenly bodies.
(See Reagan’s fascination with the occult – CLICK HERE.)
Reagan also paid close attention to lucky numbers, a practice called numerology. Even deeper esotericism is revealed by the fact that Reagan was apparently a fan of Manley P. Hall, a 33 degree Mason and lecturer who drew on ancient occult ideas to promote an ordained destiny for America. Hall’s The Secret Teaching of the Ages, was a massive codex of Egyptian, indigenous and kabbalistic teachings. Hall started a mystery school in Los Angeles and taught thousands. In 1944 he wrote a smaller book called The Secret Destiny of America, drawing on the hidden “knowledge” he had gleaned.
And Clinton…the adulterer, who gave the American national parks away to the UN…now part of their International Biosphere Reserve.
And W Bush…Yale’s occultic Skull and Bones member, calling to other esoteric elite occultists about the “angel that still rides in this whirlwind” in his 2001 inaugural speech, full conspirator in the 911 inside job false flag that secured the last steps needed by the New World Order to ensnare the American people. The same steps Hitler took in the late 1930’s.
And Obama…your Lord and Savior Jesus elected him…that’s right…God is sovereign and puts into office all leaders to please Himself for His goals, His Kingdom come. Give thanks in all things, beloved. Do you pray regularly for your President, American Christians, even if your church and fellow believers hate him?
This election, and the next, and the next (if we ever see it) will move us to the climax of time.
And our Father will elect exactly who He wants once again…as He always has in the past. What a comfort to know God’s gracious love even covers the political intrigues!
For me and my house, I will have no man’s blood on my head by causing any man to stumble. I will never again vote for the lesser of two evils, or any pre-chosen occultic candidate that represents the world’s ways. A wolf in sheep’s clothing who all profess “Christians” and con the top religious leaders to “advise” them. They all profess Christ: Reagan, Bush Sr., Clinton, W, Obama, Romney…and on and on.
I’m at complete peace…for I serve the King and His Kingdom with unwavering allegiance. I’m a believer who just happens to live in America.
And I don’t follow Billy Graham, or his false gospel of compromise that promotes the American empire. Never. Ever.
And..most certainly…we both are one day close to Home and Him!
So, dear brother, I exhort you, as I was exhorted by the Lord and our faithful Christian ancestors who stood against all odds:
Never again, beloved, vote for the lesser of two evils. No evil. None.
2 Peter 3:10-12 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.
Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat!
1 Peter 1:13-16 Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, “YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY.”

Marc, I totally agree with your points above. I just don’t believe that not voting is the answer. I would love to have a true Christian candidate..but I don’t. Shouldn’t Christians be involved in civic things? How will we be a light in the darkness if we don’t take the responsibility seriously? God is indeed in control. He also does work through us often.

Sister Penny —
Your heart is as big as Texas dear one as you yearn to help make the darkeness light. Was Paul or the other apostles involved in civic things? No…and that’s a bitter pill to swallow for those of us steeped in American history. Let’s do what the early church and apostles did…praying, fasting, evangelizing, discipling, admonishing…the clear things we’re commanded to do thru the Spirit’s great power. Jesus will lead the way. America is like the Titanic – sinking, lost…the kingdom of God is growing and that’s our rightful place.
Take care and thx for commenting…

I’d be interested in your comments on voting for local civic governance, school boards, and the like. Any area where the representation is still regarded as more administrative in nature.
For myself and my family, as much as we might be interested in voting (less “wanting” given the crop of candidates at state and federal level)–that option has been taken away by moving and technical troubles getting in absentee forms. So… praise God for his provision!
I’ve already promised not to whine about politics for four years, as I think is right for any that do not vote. It’s also more appropriate for believers in the God-appointed environment of political leadership.

Brother Jonathan —
great question! in the area of local civic voting, my wife and I will vote for the various amendments – except one that deals with the public school system – we are dead set against the agenda of the new agers and globalists who control the school system – we’re supporters of home school and higher education from home or local Godly sources – we also propose that current home schoolers help single moms who must work to take their kids in to their own homes during the week..
