The pressing need of the hour is unity of the brethren. Not the Satanic inspired “agree to disagree.” But unity of being one and practicing the one anothers of His holy Word!
Paul proclaimed it to the carnal, sin filled Corinthians in the first recorded chapter:
“Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment.”
And Jesus last prayer in John 17 to the Father on behalf of His beloved disciples:
“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.”
What is the key to unity? An open humble heart for the Holy Spirit to implant the desire to seek to understand our brethren in areas of disagreement and growth. Honorable biblical communication is the strategy our Lord Master employs with those who are so disposed to His eternal unity…
Acts 15 is a marvelous chapter that details how the whole church avoided the first possible church split. May we all strive to enter the narrow gate and seek the Master’s heart in true and abiding unity!
