Zacharias, an uncle to Jesus and father of John the baptizer, was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied upon having his mouth loosed at the naming of his son. What a wonder-full description of what our God had done and would do at the end of Luke 1.
The “tender mercy of our God” was the way God’s priest described the miracle of the visitation of the Sunrise from on high! What a grace it must have been for Zacharias then to live in the company of the growing Son of the Almighty. And today, the tender mercy of our God as He chooses to stay and reside in human beings. Amazing. Amazing tender mercy.
“Your tender mercy is an offering we long to offer others, Lord God. Teach us to use it wisely and lavishly. Show us how to love others as You do, but not to legitimize and house-break our sin or the sins of those others. Let us be just like You desire. Holy and righteous like Zacharias…and Your Son!”
Your friend and brother in fighting the good fight,
