In the early days of simple home church many years ago, our little assembly was fond of singing a praise song that arose from Psalm 97. This one is a hymn of celebration and affirmation of God and points to His enthronement.
Yahweh is the sove-reign King it declares, and all His creation should be full of joy for that fact. Including the islands, the distant shores says the NIV!
The singers also praised God in verse 3 that “fire goes before Him, and burns up all His adversaries.”
“We do rejoice, dear God, that You are reigning supreme. And some day for those of us who persevere to the very end as overcomers, we too will reign with you. You’re amazing, and we love You from the bottom of our heart.”
