Our dear Lord Jesus Christ proclaims to our brother the apostle Peter upon his confession at Caesarea Philippi that He will build His church body upon Himself, the Rock.
Furthermore, Christ asserts that hell itself and all the devil’s demons will never overpower that eternal work. Never. Ever.
Well, beloved, we have a key role in that kingdom growth to make disciples, not just “nice” converts that remain trapped in sunshine refusing to suffer for His sake.
What are you and I doing day-by-day to help populate, mature, and complete this holy kingdom of our Master?
Charles Spurgeon, the late 19th century preacher from England, eloquently put it this way…
If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to hell over our bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees, imploring them to stay. If hell must be filled, at least let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go there unwarned and unprayed for.
Let it be. Let it be. Amen. Amen.
Fill us again, our Lord and Master, with Your Holy Spirit. Only You can give us the power to fulfill our obligation based on Your gracious command! Let it begin with each of us.
