This is no trifling matter…but spiritual life or death, God or Satan, heaven or hell.
Most believers are woefully ignorant of the spiritual hierarchy in the evil spirit world that seeks to destroy them, their families, and gatherings of saints.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers (principalities), against the powers (authorities), against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6.12
Introduction
- There are two general Types of evil spiritual forces at work today in God’s universe.
- Type 1 is Satan and his evil angels who rebelled and were cast out of heaven (Isaiah 14:12-15; Ezekiel 28:12-19; Revelation 12.4).
- Type 1 includes angelic Sons of God (Ge. 6.2,4; Job 1.6, 2.1, 38.7) Watcher angels (Dan. 4.13, 23) of which 200 rebelled from watching over Israel, morphing into humans (1 Enoch; Ge. 19.1-11) and sexually mated with beautiful women creating the evil giant Nephilim that were present both before and after the Flood (Genesis 6.4). God sent the Flood to destroy the impure DNA tainted world. These ex-Watchers are now kept in eternal bonds in the abyss of Tartarus, the worse place of torment, and awaiting final judgment (Jude 1.6-7).
- Jude 1.14-15 quotes 1 Enoch 1.9 word for word. 1 Enoch and other Apocrypha details these and other events, and are not in conflict with the details of the inspired canon of the Bible. Also, the Book of Jashar in the Apocrypha is mentioned in Joshua 10.13, and 2 Samuel 1.18. Many early church fathers routinely quoted various Apocrypha books.
- Type 2 are demons, which are the disembodied spirits of the Nephilim, also called Rephaim (18 references) and “Shades (Rephaim, ghosts)” quoted in Isaiah 14:9 and 26:14. Demons strive to inhabit a physical living creature, both humans (Matt. 12.35) and animals (Matt. 8.32). These demons manifest their evil spiritual power in these living creatures, especially humans (Matthew 8:16, 28-34; 12.43-45).
- Evil angels are not demons, and demons are not evil angels.
- Evil angels and demons are extremely powerful, seductive, well organized, focused, and in a worldwide hierarchy (Ephesians 6.12).
- Believers can be demonically infested, in need of deliverance, and also apostate from the faith due to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons (Luke 13.10-15; 1 Tim. 4.1). The apostle Peter routinely cast out demons from Christians as recorded by early church father Clement (Homilies 4-9).
- The Dead Sea Scrolls were first discovered in 1948, and also included many extra Biblical works from the Apocrypha. Again, some like 1 Enoch and Jashar that are directly mentioned in the Bible as sources of truth (Jude 1.14-15; Joshua 10:13; 2 Samuel 1:18).
- The information herein is gleaned from the Bible, the Apocrypha, and actual field experience by saints involved in spiritual deliverance and is determined by careful and prayerful consideration. Therefore it’s deemed to be accurate and representative of both God’s heartfelt intent and actual experience to set the captives free (Isaiah 61.1).

Hierarchy: Parts 1-5
H1: Rulers (Principalities KJV): Greek word – arche (ar-ka), the first place, to rule, supreme evil “arch” angels, i.e. the prince of Persia, and Greece: evil angels, not demons; Type 1

Description: First place in Satan’s worldly kingdom, i.e. subject to Satan only; the top angelic evil commanders and leaders that influence and control of countries, provinces or states, cities, religious denominations and seminaries; cults; universities, etc.
Example: One evil angelic Ruler over each following specific area like: America, Washington DC, New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas Orlando, Omaha, Hollywood, families, marriages, children, Southern Baptists, Pentecostals, Calvinists, “non-denominations,” Christian media, Christian music, seminaries, public school, Mormons, JW’s, etc.

H2: Powers (Authorities NIV & Eph. 3.10 NASB): Greek word – exousia (eks-ü-se’-ä), major evil potentates with delegated influence and authority, probably lessor evil angels and the most powerful and demons, i.e. helping cause apostasy of believers; Type 1&2

Description: Second place in Satan’s worldly kingdom, i.e. subject to Rulers; spiritual potentates that most likely cover an entire geographic area with the power of specific evil effecting every aspect of the culture.
Example: One or more evil Powers over each following specific sinful doctrine & geographic area, i.e. Deception (Col. 2.8), False Doctrine and Teaching (2 Tim. 4.3), Irreconcilability and Disunity (2 Tim. 3.3), Apostasy (Matt. 7.21-23; Heb. 10.26-31), Wifely Blaspheming Disrespect (Titus 2.5), Wealth/Mammon (Luke 4.5-7), Zealot Patriotism for Killing Enemies (Matt. 5.43-48; 26.52, James 4.1-4), etc.

H3: World Forces (Rulers KJV, Powers NIV): Greek word – kosmokrator (ko-smo-krä’-tor – from kosmos), lord of the world, prince of this age, i.e. the devil Satan, his angels and demons in a plural form recorded in ancient writings; Type 1&2.
References: Ephesians 6.12 (only used here in the NT); Luke 4.6 – Satan: “…I will give you all this domain (exousia) and its glory…and I give it to whomever I wish.”
Description: The summation of Satan and his total army causing worldwide spiritual darkness.
Example: Satan has been authorized by God with the authority and glory of the all the evil world’s kingdoms and countries, and is free to give it to whomever he pleases, Jesus never corrected him.

H4: Spiritual Forces of Wickedness: Greek words – pneumatikos (pnyü-mä-te-ko’s), ponêria (po-na-re’-ä), belonging to the supernatural spirit world of evil purposes and desires known as wickedness; Type 1&2.

Description: The summation of all the evil forces seeming to accentuate the enormous breadth and depth of their power, influence, and activity.
Example: God’s holy angels are countless (Rev. 5.11), so therefore the evil spiritual forces of Satan’s angels and demons are huge in both number and scope.

H5: Heavenly places: Greek word – epouranios (ep-ü-rä’-ne-os), the heavenly regions of the three heavens.

Description: The Heavenlies consists of three Heavens: first heaven, second heaven, and third heaven.
Example: The first heaven, Psalm 19.1, the firmament or physical sky; the second heaven, no Bible reference, dimension of the created spirit realm; and the third heaven, 2 Corinthians 12.2, dwelling place of Father God and His throne.

Paraphrase of Eph. 6.12: For our real wrestling fight is not against human beings, but against Satan’s supreme angels who rule the world, against Satan’s demons who are evil potentates, against the enormous influence, power, and activity of total spiritual wickedness in the first and second heaven.
