A saint once said, “Contentment is the evidence of a grateful heart.” Amen. Most of us are full of joy when somebody gives us a gift, especially if it’s unexpected and even more so if it costs them dearly….if it’s a genuine sacrifice.
Our Father loves His creatures being thankful. And telling others of His magnificence in spoken praise. It’s a gift we give Him, and pleasure is the result.
Psalm 79:13 declares:
So we Your people and the sheep of Your pasture, will give thanks to You forever; to all generations we will tell of Your praise.
Are we content today proving our gratitude? Is praise forthcoming from our lips even if it’s a “sacrifice of praise?” Or is the national pastime of the Israelites, grumbling and disputing with Yahweh and/or the world circumstances, more accurately describe our demeanor?
“Help us, O Lord, by loving grace to “grace” You in return with thanksgiving, even if our circumstances seem to dictate lamentation. All praise rising, all rejoicing, every honor rise to Thee. Forever.”
