REMEMBERING JESUS’ FIRST PREACHING WORDS [FRIDAY FIRE 83]

In the midst of all the noise and distraction of modern life in the digital west and exported worldwide everywhere captured electricity reigns, we take a step back…

That step lets us hear clearly once again the first real words of the Master-LORD and Savior of the whole wide world. And what where they? What are they today?

Brother Matthew reveals his record:

From that time Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 4:17 (NASB)

Repent? Why? The eternal purpose of God being carried out by King Jesus is at hand. Now. And forevermore. A perfect theme only in the mind and heart of God the Father.

The Kingdom of God…

Repentance is the valley to traverse to be entering in to this earthly and heavenly Kingdom. How are we doing personally traveling this road since this Kingdom is here? Now. Forevermore. In our very midst.

And in our heart of hearts. Jesus, the King of the Kingdom. If we endure to the very end…

“Our Father, Who is in heaven. Holy, Lord, be Your Name. Your Kingdom come. Yes, may it come now. Please. Will You come now and let us see You face to face?”

ETERNAL, UNQUENCHABLE FIRE [FRIDAY FIRE 3]

As a young boy, I witnessed a piece of asbestos on fire. It glowed, smoldered, smoked, even burned. But it never burned out. Strange, I thought. I was very unsaved at the time.

The Word of God speaks to our souls in warning, for us and those lost. First, Jesus’ cousin, John the baptizer:

Luke 3:16-17  John answered and said to them all, “As for me, I baptize you with water; but One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to untie the thong of His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. “His winnowing fork is in His hand to thoroughly clear His threshing floor, and to gather the wheat into His barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

The Greek word here for “unquenchable” is “asbestos,”  from “a” or negative, and “sbestos” or quenched, extinguished. Sort of like “a-theist,” meaning no God.

And finally our Lord Jesus Himself, in holy love, proclaims a warning too:

Mark 9:43-44  “If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life crippled, than, having your two hands, to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire, where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.

It’s very fashionable these days for some to teach God just annihilates all those who are in rebellion to Him, and died without Christ…

I, for one, think not. God sends us to the best place ever forever and ever if we believe and obey. Or God sends us the worst place ever forever and ever.

The following article will absolutely take your breath away. It did mine especially the part that states, “For punishment in hell is retributive. It is not remedial. It does not make anyone better.”  WHAT IS HELL? [AT THE BATTLE FRONT 93]

Please favor us, gracious Father, and help us submit to You, persevere in  our faith, and evangelize the lost in loving, holy obedience for it’s our reasonable service to Your Lord Jesus.

HIS EYES LIKE A FLAME OF FIRE [FRIDAY FIRE 1]

God likes to use the word “fire” to describe important themes in His Word. Over 500 verses in our Bible contain that English word. Spiritually, fire illuminates, purifies and destroys.

Can you imagine eyes that look like a fire? Me neither. How our brother the apostle John must have struggled to describe the indescribable: the glorified, risen, magnificent, aflame King Jesus appearing to mere mortals.

…His eyes were like a flame of FIRE. (Rev. 1:14b)

…The Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of FIRE, (Rev. 2:18b)

…His eyes are a flame of FIRE (Rev. 19:12)

“We ask You, Lord Master, to purify us today so we too someday soon may see Your flaming eyes, and fall on our face – awe struck.”
