Holy, Holy, Holy [Kingdom Brief 1] Our brother Isaiah was privileged with the absolute terror of witnessing God Himself on His throne in all His glory…and was undone. We distinctly notice that the created seraphim do not call out day and night 24-7 “Love, Love, Love” or “Grace, Grace, Grace” but “Holy, Holy, Holy.” Our brother the apostle Peter confirms this prime attribute and our absolute necessity to act in the same way as God to represent Him properly.
Isaiah 6:1-4 In the year of King Uzziah’s death I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, lofty and exalted, with the train of His robe filling the temple. Seraphim stood above Him, each having six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called out to another and said, “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the LORD of hosts, The whole earth is full of His glory.” And the foundations of the thresholds trembled at the voice of him who called out, while the temple was filling with smoke.
1 Peter 1:14-16 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, “YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY.”
Question: How does this #1 character attribute of God, His holiness, impact and change your walk, and your relationship, with Him and others now?
The Inclusive Created Divine Counsel [Kingdom Brief 2] The Most High “Elohim” God created incomprehensible heavenly beings like free will angels, plus seraphim and cherubim, out of nothing to worship and serve Him day and night. To prove He’s inclusive in His kingdom He even invites some to His divine counsel, called sons of God (ben elohim in Hebrew), and lets them watch with joy as He both created and rules His universe. He does this full well knowing ahead of time many would rebel (Genesis 6.4, etc.), be cast out of the heavenlies, some bound now in Tartarus (2 Peter 2.4) and many that war with Him and His people until the second coming of Jesus.
Psalm 89:5-8 The heavens (including heavenly beings) will praise Your wonders, O LORD (Yehovah); Your faithfulness also in the assembly (divine council) of the holy ones (elohims). For who in the skies (heavenlies) is comparable to the LORD? Who among the sons (ben) of the mighty (el, or gods) is like the LORD, a God greatly feared in the (divine) council of the holy ones (elohims), and awesome above all those who are around Him (at the throne, and in the heavenlies)? O LORD God (Yehovah Elohim) of hosts, who is like You, O mighty LORD? Your faithfulness also surrounds You.
Psalm 82:1 God (Elohim) takes His stand in His own congregation (divine council); He judges in the midst of the rulers (elohims).
Job 38:4-7 (God to Job) “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding, who set its measurements? Since you know. Or who stretched the line on it? On what were its bases sunk? Or who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God (ben elohim) shouted for joy?…”
Question: Knowing that the Lord God has the divine council, what steps might you take to be much more aware of this fact?
God’s Eternal Purpose [Kingdom Brief 3] We turn to the Lord’s holy Word for revelation when it comes to identifying His eternal purpose. Consistent repetition like holy-holy-holy, truly-truly, and Martha-Martha is a key. We observe that Christ Himself spoke consistently of one subject over one hundred times: His kingdom. The Father’s eternal purpose is to be populating, maturing, and completing His Son’s kingdom.
Matthew 4:23 Jesus was going throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people.
Ephesians 3:10-11 …the manifold wisdom of God (the Father) might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places (evil angels and demons). This was in accordance with the eternal purpose (the kingdom) which He carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord…
1 Corinthians 15:24-26 …then comes the end, when He (Christ) hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet. The last enemy that will be abolished is death.
Revelation 1:5b-6 …to Him (Christ) who loves us and released us from our sins by His blood—and He has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father—to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Question: Why did Father God choose the kingdom as His eternal purpose? How should a subject, or a kingdom citizen, of King Jesus behave?
