Kingdom Quote 1. There is no indication in the holy Scriptures that Paul or any of the apostles spent any time in “fellowship” with the lost pagans. It was strictly evangelism. What is shown in the Word of God is the wrathful anger and retaliation by the pagans for their gospel message!
Kingdom Quote 2. The prophet is a troublesome … voice, hated by the church’s leaders and out of favor with the church’s members. Like a wild, ragged, unkempt coyote scenting from afar the smell of carrion, like a raven always croaking out the same cry, like a … wolf howling on the mountain top, the prophet travels throughout the church … followed by suspicion and hatred …
He is … a man who sees with a troubled heart – but with clear eyes – the compromises the church is making with the world today, and the consequences that will accrue to it tomorrow … as a result. Like all truthtellers who disturb the slumbering majority and who unsettle the peace of the church’s leadership, he is avoided like a leper, persecuted like an enemy and those with a reputation in the church for ‘being somebody’ detest him.
The prophet is an accuser, but today’s Christians do not want to admit their guilt. He is an intercessor, but Christians do not want to be shown their error … He is an announcer, but Christians do not want to hear…Giovanni Papine; Italian intellect and former atheist saved in the 1920’s; Matthew 10:22 “You will be hated by all because of My name…”
Kingdom Quote 3. In the gospel tradition the word “love” is not prominent by any statistical standard. It is clear that the religious vocabulary employed by Jesus was not characterized by sticky sentimentality. He did not ask people to become emotionally attached to Himself. He demanded sacrificial obedience to the cause of which He was devoted. To love Him was not merely to “like” Him but to live for the things for which Jesus Himself had lived and died….
He preferred to speak of God as the object of man’s faith and trust. Man is not to approach God with sentimental emotion, but with obedient trust…. Christian love is not a sentimental emotion, but an ethical imperative….
We must also develop three particular aspects of love which are stressed in Biblical teaching: (1) Love is the fulfillment of the law; (2) Love is the bond of perfectness; (3) Love is the foundation of brotherhood. Clarence Tucker Craig
Kingdom Quote 4. Weakness in the NT Scriptures is not sin. Never. Ever. It is a weakness in circumstance of suffering and persecution which allows our great God to act in might and valor on our behalf so that we then are “strong.” The modern western self-congratulatory church is fond of the heresy that fools people into thinking it’s just fine with God to practice any and all sins.
Kingdom Quote 5. When your desire for freedom is more important than your desire for holiness, you’re already deceived and in no-man’s-land drifting away from Jesus Christ and the faith.
Kingdom Quote 6. The reaction to the true gospel is either scorn, seeking, or surrender.
Kingdom Quote 7. If you are going to take this line (of going on with Jesus outside the camp) you are going to repudiate organized Christianity, going to repudiate Christendom as a traditional system, going to repudiate that order of things which is made, and going, therefore, to suffer reproach and be outside of the camp suffering His reproach.
In other words, we are immediately going to come up against that force of antagonism to stop what has come in through the death and resurrection and exaltation of the Lord Jesus, the heavenly thing… T. Austin-Sparks
Kingdom Quote 8. Trying to be happy by accumulating possessions is like trying to satisfy hunger by taping sandwiches all over your body. George Carlin
Kingdom Quote 9. Satan is not the least bit worried about us making converts and then discipling them in the American gospel of the baby manger Jesus. As a matter of fact, he goes overboard in helping us to produce these mediocre believers that very well may walk away from the faith and become the tares that Jesus sternly warns us of His word.
Kingdom Quote 10. Accustom yourself to unreasonableness and injustice. Abide in peace in the presence of God, who sees all these evils more clearly than you do, and who permits them. Be content with doing with calmness the little that depends upon yourself, and let all else be to you as if it were not. St. Francis de Sales
