Christian lingo is prominent in most circles you travel. Whether in the unscriptural youth group or church Sunday AM “worship” service, we’re likely to hear different versions of catch phrases used by the tribes who espouse them.
You often hear something like, “I’ve been saved for (so and so) years!” Ok, that’s a miracle and gracious blessing for sure. We know we were lost and now are found by grace that no one should boast.
But saved from what?
Saved from our sin (Titus 3.3), to go and sin no more. (John 8.11, Rom. 6.11)
Saved from this perverted age and its lost people. (Acts 2.40)
Therefore, we’re also:
Saved from the wrath (Greek word: orge) of God through the Lamb. (Rom. 5.9)
And let’s all remember this heartfelt fact: to those of us being saved (1 Co. 1.18, 2 Co. 2.15), he who endures to the end will be saved. (Matt. 24.13). It is with difficulty that the righteous are saved (1 Peter 4.18).
“Dearest Lord God, we go back to the day and time of our salvation and give you the deepest thanks. Let us test ourselves frequently to see if we’re still in the faith. Help us to fight the good fight to the very end!”
