Let’s be clear: I’m not a Republican or Democrat. I don’t even vote for poli-trick-cans. But this response by Paul Brown from NE Georgia regarding the debt ceiling snafu did catch my eye.
Of course, he’ll lose this fight (and the debt war to the globalists), the debt ceiling will be raised, and America will continue it’s escalating ride down the rapids to its financial Niagara Falls.
But I do like Paul’s expressed no-way-José conviction, its dose of reality, and calling a spade a spade.
Don’t you?
Again, I’m not weighing in on the debate other than to say shouldn’t we all try to make wise choices, live within our means, and make every effort to incur zero debt when already bankrupt?

The various opinions on the debt ceiling debate have plastered news headlines for months, highlighting different ways members of each party propose to hike the Treasury’s spending limit. But putting politics and partisanship aside, here’s one point of view that you probably haven’t considered: Voting to raise the debt ceiling at all is the same thing as voting for $14.3 trillion worth of mistakes.
This debate is not about which party has the best plan for our economic viability or which side of the aisle is right or wrong. It’s about what direction our country should turn after hitting rock bottom. It’s about accountability and responsibility. And it’s about fundamentally changing the way Washington spends money.
I gave my word to my constituents and to the rest of the American people that I would not vote for any bill that increases the debt limit. The simple truth is that we cannot afford to increase the debt ceiling by $1, let alone by $2.4 trillion dollars. Instead, we must focus on cutting spending and paying down our massive debt. And we need to focus on increasing revenue by raising taxpayers, instead of destroying jobs by raising taxes.
I’m not convinced that Aug. 2 will be Armageddon if an agreement isn’t reached, but I am convinced that by raising the debt ceiling we’re empowering the larger problem — spending.
How much is enough? At what point does our national debt break us? All evidence points to signs that our fiscal threshold has already been shattered. After President Obama passed his $1 trillion stimulus bill and rammed Obama Care down the throats of the American people, we’re still facing high joblessness and one of the worst housing markets in history. Spending more money has not and will not get our economy anywhere.
Even though I’ll be voting “no” to raising the debt ceiling, I’ll be voting “yes” for the future of those who haven’t been born, for a strong free market, and for the liberty and security of our nation. It’s long past time to stop obligating our constitutional duties and our budgetary problems to the next Congresses and next generations. I will not stand for it, and I cannot support it.
