The first room we renovated in our home, our Bethany, was the laundry room. I guess we thought that because it was small, it would be a piece of cake. Nothing could be further from the truth!
I am here to tell you that just because a room is small does not make it any easier to renovate. In fact, it is actually more difficult and truth be known, there are still a few things that need to be completed in that room!
One day Marc and I had gone to the coffee shop to spend some time in the Word and do some writing. God gave me a treasure of information about laundry. Yes, God cares about laundry. It is in His Word. The following is the dedication of our laundry room to the Lord.

Isaiah 7:3 Then the LORD said to Isaiah, “Go out now to meet Ahaz, you and your son Shear-jashub, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, on the highway to the launderer’s field…”
Isaiah 35:8-10 A highway will be there, a way called the Way of Holiness. The unclean will not pass over it, but it will be for those whom He guides- fools will not stray along it. No lion or other beast of prey will be there, traveling on it. They will not be found there, but the redeemed will go there. Those ransomed by Adonai will return and come with singing to Zion, on their heads will be everlasting joy. They will acquire gladness and joy, while sorrow and sighing will flee.
Isaiah 36:2 From Lakhish the king of Assyria sent Rav-Shakeh his field commander to king Hezekiah in Jerusalem with a large army. He positioned himself by the aqueduct from the Upper Pool, which is by the road to the Launderers’ Field.
Isaiah 7:3 Then Adonai said to Isaiah, “Go out now to meet Achaz, you and your son Shear-Jashub, at the end of the aqueduct from the Upper Pool, on the road to the Launderers’ Field;
Job 9:30-31 Even if I washed myself with soap and my hands with cleansing powder, you would plunge me into a slime pit so that even my clothes would detest me.
Jeremiah 2:21-22 “But I planted you as a choice vine of seed fully tested and true. How did you degenerate into a wild vine for me? Even if you scrub yourself with soda and plenty of soap, the stain of your guilt is still there before me,” says Adonai Elohim.
Malachi 3:2 But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap.

I was amazed to find so many references to laundry and soap in the Scripture. After researching the meaning of these Scriptures I was touched deeply by their meaning and how they relate to my personal life. I can see clearly from this story in Isaiah how just doing my laundry every day can bring me to the feet of Jesus.
In this story, Isaiah is told by God to stand in a specific spot to deliver a message of hope to King Ahaz. He was to meet Ahaz at the end of the aqueduct of the Upper Pool on the road to the Launderers’ Field. He was to tell Ahaz he had nothing to fear from the Assyrian armies threatening to overtake Jerusalem. Let’s go to the Scripture and look at how the words relate to us today.
He refers to the Upper Pool. The word pool in Hebrew means blessing. Any pool in a desert is definitely a blessing!
The reference to Upper Pool denotes a higher level located on the hillside west of the Old City of David which flowed down an aqueduct to the city. Upper also means Most High so Upper Pool is equal to saying “The blessings of the Most High”. This upper pool was a spring of water located on a hillside west of the Old City of David which flowed down an aqueduct to the city. At the end, it emptied into a small pool. This was exactly where Isaiah was told to stand. The way to get to this spot was to take the Road to the Launderers’ Field.
The reference to road and highway is equal to an ascent. In Isaiah 35:8 the Highway of Holiness is the Road to the Launderers’ Field. It is a road to righteousness and moral cleansing. It is a place of washing. It was located at the end of an aqueduct coming from a lower place to an upper spring and was a place where clothes were washed by the women of the day, thus it was named the Launderers’ Field. This is the place where Isaiah stood. This is a place where the upward way of cleansing and washing met the downward flow of the channel of blessings of the Most High. The road leading to this place according to Isaiah 35:8-10 was a road to redemption where God is your guide and you are protected from evil. This specific spot pointed to the only hope King Ahaz had to overcome the Assyrians.
How does this age old story relate to my laundry room? God’s Word is so amazing! The reference is to Jesus who is the end of the aqueduct. He is the channel of blessing of the Most High and the only way of cleansing. The upward ascent that brought Isaiah to this place is the upward ascent that brings me to Jesus Himself, my number one source of blessing. From Him alone all blessings flow! From Him alone comes my redemption! He alone is my guide on my road to the Launderers’ Field-my Highway to Holiness!
Oh Dear Ones! I pray that God will show you today your personal Launderers’ Field and you will walk the journey on the Highway to Holiness to life everlasting. Believe me, there will be piles and piles dirty laundry. At times it will be overwhelming, but it will lead you straight into the arms of Jesus where there is protection from the enemy and true joy even in the midst of turmoil. I pray you embrace this journey and make living a holy life your number one priority. Only then can your life bring glory to God.

Father, I pray today as I dedicate this laundry room to You that every time I enter this room it will remind me of the cleansing power of the blood of my dear Savior. I pray that my life will be a life of ascent on Your Highway of Holiness. I pray that Your highway leads me to desire righteousness and moral cleansing. May every spot or stain I remove from our clothing in this room remind me of the cleansing power of Jesus’ blood.
I thank You today that this room represents my personal Launderers’ Field reminding me daily that this is a place where the upward way of cleansing and washing meet the downward flow of the channel of blessings of the Most High. I dedicate this room to You. I praise and worship Your holy name for saving me and I thank You for giving me such a lovely place to remind me daily of my need for cleansing and washing. I look forward to Your coming as I journey on Your Highway to Holiness that leads me to redemption, singing and everlasting joy!
In Jesus precious name, AMEN
