Know Your Enemy.
Do we? We should.
If you’re a serious follower of Jesus, or a spiritual seeker, or just plain curious, the apostle Paul said to the Corinthian church he planted that we’re “not ignorant” of the devil’s schemes. Again, to the Ephesian church he also planted, he ends the letter with a warning to put on, and keep on, the full armor of our Master to “stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”
The Know Your Enemy series here has changed our lives forever by giving us more and new knowledge to be wise and standing firm against mankind’s nemesis, Satan, and his angelic army.

There is some fascinating material in this compendium, which is about as complete as I have seen. It is nice to see all of this knowledge assembled and focused so completely. Where I personally have reservations is that we should all ever be good Bereans and not naively swallow anything and everything hook, line and thinker.
Jesus said that we were to love our enemies. He also said our adversary prowls about as a roaring lion, so beware what the focus is of in all things – ask yourself, is it God? Is it Jesus? Or is it the Devil blowing his own trumpet? Hmmm…we are surely not to be ignorant of his devices, yes?
Knowing rhe difference between an enemy and an adversary is very important, as is knowing what Paul actually meant by “We wrestle not WITH flesh and blood and the harmonizing scripture, “For the weapon of our warring are not of the flesh.”
The adversary did a very neat job of messing with Ephesians and our comprehension thereof. Paul’s letter begins with an exposition of the Power and primacy of Jesus and the sermon (message) of God in Christ, the complete renewal of all things, both in heaven and earth from the Head. He explains how that Jesus is the HEAD of ALL Principality and ALL Power, both in heaven and in the earth. That “Prince of the Power of the air” part was added in – it is not at all like that in the original Aramaic scriptures, which accord with the ancient Hebraic concept of secular Government, commerce and organized religion being the seat of ha Shatan, to wit, Ziz, Behemoth and Leviathan.
Jesus said that a man’s enemies shall be those of his own household – it is our inner enemies which need to be dealt with and too more than any. I heard this a while back, “Ian, could you receive it that if for nothing else, World War Two happened so I could draw Corrie’s (Corrie Ten Boom, the Hiding Place lady) out of the fires like purest gold?”
Understanding how WW2 came about is not perhaps as important as knowing WHY it was. Having an in depth knowledge of the works of the devil is not as important as knowing why God made him and for what purpose.
And always remember, the closer a lie is to the truth, the more effective it is. You have to know The Truth, to discern the lies.
