When the Savior was resurrected by the Holy Spirit, the testament in Acts 1.3 states He spoke “things concerning the kingdom of God.” Strange idea for modern man, don’t you think? When we gather with so-called believers, the conversation almost never goes to the kingdom of God.
Why is that? One suggestion would be that the teachers today, by and large, ignore the multitude of verses that speak to the King’s kingdom. If that is true, and I submit to you it is, then why would the people ever speak of it? If the salt has lost its savor, what is it good for? When was the last time you heard a meaningful, sober conversation about “things concerning the kingdom of God?”
If Luke only had limited space to write his record, then it follows the Holy Spirit chose the most important elements to pass down to each generation. Then, fellow pilgrims and sojourners, might we too make every effort to first know, and then speak, those “things concerning the kingdom of God?”
“Teach us, Lord God, to number our days and to apply our hearts to wisdom so we may speak as You do about things concerning Your great kingdom. Thy kingdom come…”
