GOD’S MARVELOUS GRACE – PART 3 [MONDAY MANNA 48]

June 25, 2007 by Marc Leave a Comment

We appreciate your comments to us on such a vital topic as the grace of God. More next time on the “due” that God expects in return for His great sacrifice. In the meantime, we pick up on the further uses of grace in the New Covenant record, after detailing 1-31 last time.

Remember: we here at Walk Worthy have this word and verse study in a Word document I can attach if you’d like. It’s really rich in truth! Just request it via email.

Let’s take a further look at this treasure chest, this gold mine of truth:

32. “Grace” comes from both the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ – 1 Cor. 1:3

33. “Grace” is given in Christ Jesus so that we’re not lacking in any “gift”  – 1 Cor. 1:4-7

34. We received the Holy Spirit to know the “things freely given” are from God (i.e. the Spirit quenched will mar our ability to know these things) – 1 Cor. 2:12

35. God’s “grace” to Paul allowed him to lay a building foundation and help the assembly, and another to carefully build on his effort – 1 Cor. 3:10

36. Each man has his own “gift” from God – 1 Cor. 7: 7

37. We can partake of food with “thankfulness” (favor = grace) – 1 Cor. 10:10

38. God gives spiritual “gifts” (favors = graces) by the Holy Spirit – 1 Cor. 12:4, 9, 28

39. There’re greater “gifts” (favors = graces) than others – 1 Cor. 12:31

40. By “grace” Paul was called, saved, given his apostleship – 1 Cor. 15:9-10; Gal. 1:15

41. God’s “grace” can be in vain (empty, futile, worthless: 1 Cor. 9:24-27), but proved fruitful to Paul as a co-laborer helping him to labor more than all the other apostles –  1 Cor. 15:9-10

42. “Thanks” be to God the Father who gives and leads us in victory (and triumph) through our Lord Jesus Christ – 1 Cor. 15:57; 2 Cor. 2:14

43. The prayers of many moved God to bestow “favor” upon Paul and his men, causing the giving of thanks by many persons – 2 Cor. 1:11

44. In proud confidence, Paul’s group conducted themselves in holiness and godly sincerity in the “grace” of God – 2 Cor. 1:12

45. We, like the Corinthians, can twice receive a “blessing” (a second grace) by both being hospitable to traveling church planters and workers and helping them on their way (giving them $ for their ministry) – 2 Cor. 1:15-16

46. Knowing Satan’s schemes, we can “forgive”  and comfort others who have repented with godly sorrow after church punishment, so that Satan takes no advantage – 2 Cor. 1:6-11

47. “Grace” spreads to more and more people causing thanks that brings god glory –  2 Cor. 4:15

48. Again, “grace” can be received in vain, so Paul urged others, giving no cause for offense in anything – 2 Cor. 6:1-3

49. The “grace” of God given in the Macedonia assemblies (vs. the self-centered rich Corinthians), even in their great ordeal of affliction (persecution for the Word of God) that their deep poverty and abundance of joy, caused them to give $ beyond their ability for the famine relief of the Jerusalem brethren, a “gracious work” – 2 Cor. 8:1-8

50. Paul admonishes the carnal Corinthians by showing that by His own “grace”, Jesus, although rich, became poor so that we can become spiritually rich by “gracing” others with our deep monetary sacrifice (i.e. when it really hurts to give, really costing something dear to us in “blessing” our brothers and sisters) – 2 Cor. 8:9

51. God is able to make all “grace” abound to those giving $ sacrificially and liberally, so that the receiving brethren in prayer yearn for their contributors because of the surpassing “grace” in the contributors, all giving “thanks” to God for His indescribable gift – 2 Cor. 9:8-15

Saints, please note the breath and depth of Paul’s admonition in regards to financial sacrifice in this letter. This amplifies the commands of Jesus to not lay up treasures on earth, but in heaven. It’s been the experience of many that the poorest people give the most liberally, with the rich giving out of their abundance. Remember Jesus’ teaching:

Mark 12:42-43  A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amount to a cent. Calling His disciples to Him, He said to them, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the contributors to the treasury;

Luke 12:20 “But God said to him, ‘you fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?’

52. In physical and circumstantial affliction, His “grace” is sufficient since Christ’s immense power, giving the Father great glory, is perfected in our weakness, gladly allowing us to boast of that weakness – 2 Cor. 12:9

53. Even after called by God’s “grace,” believers can desert the Father for a false gospel, causing the false gospel preachers to be cursed by God Himself – Gal. 1:6

54. “Grace” given can be recognized by others – Gal. 2:9

55. “Grace” could be nullified if righteousness ever came through the Law (which is impossible), causing Christ to die needlessly – Gal. 2:21

56. Abraham was “granted” the promise of the inheritance by God, not the Law – Gal. 3:18

57. Those seeking to be justified by the law are severed (cut off, done away, nullified, abolished, rendered inoperative) from Jesus, and have fallen from “grace ” and are lost, vs. those waiting for the hope of righteousness by the Spirit – Gal. 5:4-5

58. The church is predestined by the Father’s will as adopted sons, with “grace” being bestowed upon us, and because of “grace’s” glory, it results in praise for our Father – Eph. 1:5-6

59. Our Father shows the surpassing riches of His “grace” in kindness toward us by resurrecting us with Jesus, seating us now and forever with Jesus in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus (Hallelujah, dear ones!) – Eph. 2:6-7

60. By His “grace,” and through our faith, we’re saved from our sins and the wrath to come, all being a no-works gift from Him, and then as His workmanship, His due from us is the good works He prepared from the foundation of the word that we should walk in them –  Eph. 2: 8-10

61. Paul was given the responsibility of the stewardship (administration, i.e. to make ministry fruitful) of God’s “grace” to benefit the brethren – Eph. 3:2

62. In accord (harmony, in line) with Christ’s gift, each believer is given a specific measure of “grace” – Eph. 4:7

63. We can give “grace” to those who hear our speech by not speaking rotten words and only those that edify based on the moment’s need – Eph. 4:29

64. “Grace” is with all who love our Lord Jesus with a love that has no corruption, i.e. is pure – Eph. 6:24

Every grace today, beloved….
