A Pharisee and Sanhedrin Council member, Joseph of Arimathea was waiting for the completion of the kingdom of God and a secret disciple of Jesus Christ.
But…that secret was about to end dramatically.
He was also wealthy, influential, and stood to lose it all by what he was about to do. Asking the Roman governor, Pilate, for the dead body of the Creator of the world, shamed and crucified as a common criminal.
What is it like to immediately lose your executive influence, your business, all your money and savings, your family, your wife, all your current “friends”…everything held dear?
So..he “gathered up courage” first.
Jesus over and over told us, His beloved, to “take courage” as if it’s just laying around somewhere to be taken. We take our Lord at His Word that this most valuable emotion is readily available for us a moment’s notice.
What is it today, dear saint, that you need to do that requires you to “gather up courage?” That one action, or event, or relationship, or admonishment…or sin that needs to be finally defeated with His victory?
Well…ask God today. Gather up courage. And go.
Let us know about the victory if you will. Our brother Joseph will tell us in heaven all about his beating heart and adrenaline rush as he risked it all for His Lord.
“We come again, our Lord, to boldly approach the throne of grace to find grace and help in time of need. Bless us and help us gather up Your courage to do Your will for the Kingdom.”
