This excellent resource by Laura Doyle is the updated version of The Surrendered Wife, and is even better than the original. It’s a little known fact that 75-80%+ of marriages that seek marriage counseling never get better in the long run, and a measurable percentage get divorced anyway.
Laura, who was on the verge of divorce herself, began asking happily married wives what they did to help make their marriages glow…she now boasts over 150,000 women have been involved in her marriage advice and her Six Intimacy Skills that are now trademarked. I can vouch for the skills having been married for over thirty five years, plus being through a brutal divorce as an unbeliever.
Her secret? In a large part, she knows what Christian wives who submit to their husbands have known for eons. That the wife is the key to the harmony and marital bliss. Respect is oxygen to a man, and husbands in particular. She does detail the exceptions when the wife must leave.
I was surprised to see this unbeliever use many Biblical principles to teach her readers. She now has certified relationship coaches, and thousands of revolutionized marriages. Of course, there are some areas to avoid due to her spiritual condition, but by and large this is an excellent resource! Remember gravity works for everybody.
