What are you awaiting eagerly? Is it some new material good? Or new relationship? Or relief from some earthly difficulty? Perhaps something else?
Our brother Paul the great apostle had favorite words he used under the guidance of our Friend the Holy Spirit. One translates as awaiting eagerly. But what?
“… awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ…” 1 Cor. 1:7
Of course! Of all people, he was heavenly minded. All the time. He had eternity stamped on his eyes…
And in his treatise on law and grace, he breaks out in this favorite word no less than 3 times in one chapter, Romans 8!
“For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.” verse 19
And….
“And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.” Verse 23
And again…
“But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it (hope of Jesus and eternity).” verse 25
“Our dear Lord, help us by grace to fix our eyes completely on the hope to be brought to us as Your wonderful Son appears for us, His bride!”

Waiting eagerly! Ever since I learned about the Second Coming of Jesus, I have waited eagerly for that glorious day.
But lately, I’ve begun to wait eagerly for the revelation of Jesus that is available to me in the privacy of my daily Bible study and prayer time as I seek His Face. There is a joy and an intimacy that comes from waiting on Him in the hope of knowing Him a little better and gaining a deeper understanding of the day’s Bible reading. Sometimes, He blesses me with an unexpected revelation in the silence of that time alone!
While we eagerly wait for His Triumphant Return, let’s open our hearts to enjoy His Presence day by day.
