Our brother David the psalmist-musician appeals to our Father in a peculiar way in Psalm 19.12. I believe we all can relate to his muse with God.
Acquit me of hidden faults, he says. Have you too seen the phenomenon when God reveals some sin that you never saw before? Then, in a moment of grace, your spirit through His Spirit reminds you that this has been going on for some time.
But David is extremely proactive and wants all of God. Just like we do. Or should. So, what is a hidden fault? The Complete Biblical Library commentary eloquently states it this way:
“Lurking evils are most dangerous because, like aphides on the underside of a rose leaf, they multiply so quickly unobserved. Small deeds make up life, and small, unnoticed sins darken the soul. Mud in water, at the rate of a grain to a glassful, will make a lake opaque.”
Amen. So we too pray to our Father.
“Help us, oh God, to reveal our hidden faults that mar the image of You. Your favor of acquittal is most wonderful, merciful, and delightful. Thanks once again!”

Marc

thank you so much for this good word. I needed it today, well, and every day! we would do well to begin speaking the Truth to each other in love to keep sharpening the iron of our spirits. instead so often we choose to ‘be nice’ or ‘let it pass’ to keep the peace.

Sister Leslie,
You’re a treasure to open up and admit, like me too, we need to keep acquitted of hidden faults! When Christ’s body finally decides to be like Him and really “love” in all His ways, then we’ll be refreshed and uplifted in ways we can only imagine in Heaven!
